The first Bracketology of the season was posted on espn.com. It wasn't really affected by yesterday's shake-up at the top of standings. UNC is still a top seed. It was probably affected more by Georgetown defeating UConn last week and then losing to Pitt, the new no. 1. With that said, here are my thoughts on today's Bracketology:
- Florida State is 13-2 and if they keep pushing, own their home court and steal one or two on the road (i.e. a win over UNC, Duke, or Miami) they could finally get pass NCAA bridesmaid status and launch into the tournament
- Xavier is a hot team as a presumptive four seed but Dayton is currently 13-1. Xavier shows up in tournaments and wins versus Memphis and Virginia Tech shows that the trend could continue
- ACC Surprise: Wake Forest 13-0 and no. 4 in the nation. If they keep playing like this, they can lay a legit claim to a one-seed. They have a big game at home against UNC on Sunday.
- Can the B-East get nine teams? Well, lets see:
- Pitt- in
- UConn- in
- Georgetown - in. Even though they lost to Notre Dame
- Syracuse- in
- ND- in
- Marquette- in
- Villanova- in
- L-Ville- in
- West Virginia- in. Oh yeah, the Big East is great.

Georgetown is a weird team. They're very streaky and have some good wins and some losses that are inexplicable (especially their last few games where they just didn't show up down the stretch).
The Big East will definitely have nine teams in my opinion although the ACC might have three teams laying claim to the top two seeds. Conference play is going to be fantastic this year.
